episode 4 paralells? (Kurt-centric)
I was thinking about previous seasons episode fours and Kurt, trying to find patterns of note. This is what I've got so far.
"Preggers" Kurt joins the football team, Finn helps him, he wins the game, comes out to his Dad who loves him and accepts him. Victory & acceptance moments. He's part of the team, saves the day.
"Duets" Kurt struggles with loneliness and friendship, Finn's a dick, Sam is sweet, Burt tries to comfort Kurt, but kinda fumbles it. Kurt isolates himself, doesn't feel like part of the group/team, and sings a duet by himself (but with support from Mike, Britt, and Cheerios, so, IDK, maybe he's part of that team?). Then Rachel reaches out to him, sings "Get Happy/Happy Days" with him. This is the start of his friendship with Rachel, which becomes one of Kurt's most important relationships. Victory and acceptance again?
"Pot O' Gold" Kurt is less present in this episode but he does take initiative to save the musical by designing the programs and selling ad space. So, here he has initiative, creativity, and victory. Burt helps & supports him. He's also part of the ND 'team', not isolated, and saves the day. Finn helps & includes Rory in a way he should have helped Kurt in the previous season.
Which leads me to "The Break-Up" and questions. Will we see Burt? Will he give Kurt any advice? Will Kurt be a team player and have a victory? Perhaps at Vogue.com? Will Blaine come to accept Kurt's new job taking Kurt's focus? Will Kurt save something/someone? Who will reach out to Kurt? Finn?
Bring on Thursday/Friday. The antici...pation of this episode is driving me nuts. I want to see how the patterns manifest.
