So it looks like we get it early, with Blaine trying to recall Kurt's memory/recall Kurt to him. But it ends up, instead of repairing Blaine's troubles, highlighting them. Tell us what's wrong, Blaine.
It's hard to figure out Kurt's expression and what he's thinking. At first I thought he was upset because he knew something was wrong. On subsequent views, he doesn't seem so much upset as surprised with the way Blaine is singing the song like he had no idea something is bothering Blaine. Blaine, however, is on the verge of tears. Did he start out that way or was the song too much for him as he contemplates losing Kurt? It almost seems like Kurt is confused as to where that came from and not sure what to do now. That kind of plays into the little snippet we saw in Thursday's promo but who knows how all this will come out in the final edit.
Yeah, it is hard to read Kurt there. He seems to move from delight and warm fuzzies to something more like concern or distress. I'm not sure if Blaine started out with the intention of being sad. I would t hink maybe not, since he's usually pretty put together emotionally in public spaces, but this is too much. He may have meant it as a romantic gesture, but it's dredging up all the pain. And I agree with your assessment, that Kurt doesn't know why or what's going on.
Ugh, boys. I was feeling fairly calm about this episode until this song. I'm still fairly certain they won't be breaking up, but it's going to hurt, oh my god.
The snippet in the video starts at the chorus so who knows what the 1st verse was like for Blaine singing it. You're right about Blaine being pretty together emotionally in public spaces but he looks like he's full on ready to cry here.
I was feeling pretty good about this episode, too. The public filming got me thinking this was all a distraction, all the spoilers, etc. It just seemed too much info to be putting out there. Now I don't know what to think but I'm still leaning towards some hurt but no break up. This Sneak Peek didn't help any, though, because it totally crys "break-up".
Maybe we can sit next to each other in cyberspace when this airs. Just in case we're wrong ;) I don't know if you remember, but I'm the one who commented on your use of "Fibonacci pattern" and asymptote in "In the World of Silence". Hi!*waves*
I really hope he starts with the very first verse; it would be perfect and beautiful, and I could see that starting out happier for both of them.
I think there've been some red herrings for sure, but--I don't know, maybe I'm seeing patterns that aren't there--I think they're going to be fine. I think we're going to see their relationship as teenagers fail--that's the break--and then they'll make some choices to transition into an adult relationship, which isn't a dream, will be tough, but they can do it.
Of course I remember you; you've been leaving me kind comments from some time ago on my big fic. :) I really appreciate it. I'm still trying to make friends and have conversations within the Glee fandom, so I really am glad you popped in to chat with me!
I'm overseas so have to wait an hour or so longer to get the torrent for the new episode. Avoiding spoilers on this one will be hard. But I'll certainly be up for mutual commiseration if it all goes badly. I just hope we don't end up with a cliffhanger.
Good luck avoiding spoilers :) I actually thought about letting my TiVo record it, then watching the ending so I know what's coming but, nah - that's not gonna happen.
I'll keep a lookout for your posts and we can commiserate if need be, then. I don't want to be the one spoiling anything for you. The worse thing Ryan can do is make this a cliffhanger. Four weeks is just too long to wait in pop-culture land. I know he has no control over the Presidential Debates and, ugh, baseball playoffs but there needs to be resolution even if it's not what people want rather than stringing them along for a month. Wow, that's a long sentence. Too tired to edit lol
I've been in the Glee fandom a little over a year (since Original Song) and it took a long time for me to strike up conversations or even comment on fics. I never felt I had anything to contribute to a discussion but a friend did say to me "Don't worry! Just say whatever. The more the merrier!" so now I kinda of do. Lovely chatting with you and looking forward to your thoughts after 4.04. :)
