Ah, I am sorry for being delayed replying to this.
I so appreciate the pom poms. I feel like I'm trying to make it across a crowded room with a tray upon which is balanced a house of cards I must keep from collapsing.
I don't know what your outline looked like before, in terms of its conflict arc,
Basically, it looked very little like the story has turned out. It was a lot shorter for one, and was more heavily focused on Kurt and his fear of loss + ambivalence about intimacy. The season from "Big Brother" on gave me so many wonderful gifts, from Blaine's struggling emotionally, to their disruption in DWS, to Kurt rebuilding his friendship with Mercedes (off screen), and his audition in "Choke" of course...
And, gosh, I can't tell you how wonderful it is to hear I've succeeded in filling in the S3 emotional logic chain (good coinage, btw) credibly. There've been a few place where I really had to squint, but I think it's actually coming together fairly well. S4 has me extra curious now, to see what will end up jossed and what may still work.
I can't wait to find out how far off base my head canon for the Andersons may be. At least, I really hope we get to see more of what's going on with Blaine and his family. I'm basically working with a quiet notion in the back of my head that Mr. Anderson may not be Blaine's biological father, and Blaine does not know this (not explicitly, anyway).
an interesting interpretation of Kurt in Michael
I think that interpretation of Kurt's response to Sebastian after seeing the cut scene of "I Want You Back" is a really intriguing one. I think I could get behind it. :) I wish they'd been able to keep it in the episode, because it cast a much more sinister light on everything, really.
Impatient is the first word I would pick if I had to play one of those "describe in three adjectives" games
Oh, impatient for sure. Can I add panicky to the list? :D
your voice is pretty distinct
This is the nicest thing ever to hear about my writing. Seriously. Thank you.
I really need to finish watching Buffy and Angel one of these days. Unfortunately, I started marathoning it while caring for my father while he was in hospital battling cancer. So the show has weird emotional entanglements for me that have nothing to do with the show itself, which I was really enjoying (though wishing for more world building type details, but that's just me). I think I got up to season 4 of Buffy, and just the first season of Angel. And Fullmetal Alchemist, eh? I never got into the fandom for it (I watched it a couple years after everyone else had already been inspired and then moved on), but I love the anime--though I've only seen the older of the two series, and I've not read the manga.
Notes on the latest instalments
I think scenes between Kurt and Finn have been the ones I've ended up cutting most often in my drafts. I really needed this moment for them, but had been struggling to find the right place for it, so I am really happy you liked this scene! I'm glad the contrast of tone works as well. The tonal shifts through Part VI have been interesting for me.
Also, pleased that the gardening has some resonance, too. It's a bit more of a reach w.r.t. canon stuff. I can't really think of any evidence Kurt may be interested in gardening, but I felt like there was a lot to work with there and it felt right for Mercedes to me. :)
Finally, yay for naked cuddles. One of the things I love most about Blaine is his earnestness. It's just so damned charming.
As always, thank you so much for reading and sharing your thinky, fun comments. You're in the front row of my mental target reader audience, so I'm always super happy to hear from you. <3
